Biography

Originally from Jacksonville and now living in Tallahassee, Kevin Derby teaches leadership at Divine Mercy University. In his dissertation, Kevin wrote on Gen John Pope and transformative leadership during the Civil War. Kevin worked in higher education for a decade at Jacksonville University, Edward Waters College, Bethany College, and West Suburban College of Nursing. Besides his teaching duties, Kevin also serves as the associate registrar at Divine Mercy University.

He also worked as a campaign aide for Sen. Orrin Hatch; in communications with the Florida Chamber of Commerce; as a reporter and editor for the Sayfie Media Group, Sunshine State News, and Florida Daily; and as a legal and policy analyst with the Center for the Community Interest. Kevin’s work and insights have been featured in many magazines and various other websites and publications. He has appeared on CSPAN and other cable stations discussing politics and can be heard on radio stations across Florida and the nation, offering insights and analysis on state and federal politics.
