0:06Hello. My name is Meredith McCormack. I work in the office of student success at Divine Mercy University, and my role is student success advisor and disability support service coordinator. Congratulations on being accepted at Divine Mercy University. I'm so glad that you have chosen Divine Mercy University for your master in psychology degree, and I'm very happy to share with you some of my work here at DMU. The student success office is established basically for that very reason, helping student success. But what do we do? How we establish our connection? So as first, after you are admitted, you will hear from us very, very soon. You usually will get a first letter where we welcome you and we tell you what are the next steps.

0:54Next step, usually, it will be establishing your email account, your DMU student email account, which is a service of Gmail. You also will receive information on how to set up your Canvas account. Now Canvas account is the student learning platform. It's virtual, of course, basically your classroom. And then you will be invited to our university orientation. The university orientation will be, so to say, your first class where you will learn ropes, you will learn the virtual environment, and you'll you'll, try out some of the assignment. You also will be able to introduce yourself. You will be able to communicate with your classmates and getting to know your classmates. So this university orientation is specifically for your cohort.

1:35We have a university orientation for each cohort. So the people that you are going to interact with will be your classmates. And then another process in the onboarding, journey is, the enrollment agreement. The enrollment agreement comes from the admissions office, but I'm the person who generates that, and you are going to get it, from a different email that says admissions at Divine Mercy University, but I'll be generating it because I've got to know you by that time. And I would like to collect them, and we, integrate them into the onboarding documentation because they are criterias for you sitting in class. So the enrollment agreement is a legal document between you and Divine Mercy University.

2:17So please, when you receive it, review it and sign it. Bear in mind that this document, it will come to your, DMU student email account, so make sure that it doesn't go to spam or anything like that. The onboarding process is, as long as you wish from your admission to your start of classes, or you can dedicate a special week, let's say, and you complete your onboarding. But we require that the onboarding, process is done before the classes start. Now during this process, we'll get to know you. You will get to know some of the services. In the university orientation, you will have a page with all the resources and all the services that are provided by DMU. Should you have any questions, you will have the names and then, telephone numbers and the email accounts of the people that are responsible for that help, but please do contact me.

3:08My email is studentsuccess@divinemercy.edu, and my telephone number is (703) 416-1441 extension 150. During this time, you will be able also to set up your Zoom account, and that will help you for communicating with your instructors in the meetings that will follow as you start classes. The other, task that I carry out here at DMU, as I mentioned earlier, is a coordinator for disability support services. Now if you, have some experience with this, if you were provided accommodations, in your undergrad or if you have accommodations for your work, you know the the process. But if you haven't heard of them before and if your instructor says that you need or if your medical professional says that you need some accommodations, please do contact me.

4:02The email for that, service is dss@divinemercy.edu, and it's the same telephone number, (703) 416-1441 extension 150. The process is pretty standard. We are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and we provide great accommodations. We support our students, and we help you thrive. And these accommodations help you, but also do not inhibit with the programs. So there is a quite a good balance in that. As a process in itself, basically, you will fill out a form. You will upload the necessary documentations. We'll evaluate, those documents, and then we'll have a face to face interview with you. And then a document will be provided, for the student based on, the need and, based on the opportunities that we have here to help you.

4:52Again, I'm so glad that you are here, and we are very happy to have you and to serve you. Please do not hesitate to contact me either through studentsuccess@divinemercy.edu or through dss@divinemercy.edu, or you can call at any time within the business hours, 7034161441150. We usually respond pretty quick within the twenty four hours the issues are addressed. But if it's weekend, we obviously are closed, but you can email me, and then I probably will be able to respond to you even if it's a little bit of weekend. We're happy to serve you. Thank you again. And now please enjoy the next presentation provided by mister mister Jeffrey Elliott, the director of library services here at DMU. Thank you, and god bless you.
