COVID-19 Mask and Vaccination Policy

Dear Faculty, Students and Staff,

I am writing to remind and make everyone aware of DMU’s current policy regarding Covid-19, vaccinations and masks.  We are closely following the legal requirements from the Commonwealth of Virginia, local jurisdictions and the federal government, and we give due consideration to both the recommendations of the CDC and respect for individual privacy and conscience.  Given recent news reports that the federal government may be instituting a vaccine mandate for employers with 100 or more employees, I think it is necessary for us to remind everyone of our policy.  DMU currently has less than 100 employees so it would not be subject to the mandate currently under consideration.

Our policy is found in the attached pdf document.

I want to thank the entire community for their cooperation and patience during the course of the pandemic.  Over the past year and a half, I am proud that the response of our community has been overwhelmingly characterized by mutual respect and personal responsibility.  While I am sure there are diverse opinions on the best means to protect our community, the charitable and respectful attitude of all concerned  has helped us to protect our community and keep our academic programs moving forward.

Thank you all and God bless you,

Fr. Charles
