Biography
Dr. Pecoraro is a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Virginia and is a board-certified Associate Fellow in biofeedback by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA). She has worked as an addictions researcher with the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was a co-investigator with the NIDA Clinical Trials Network, Delaware Valley Node. She maintains a private practice focusing on psychological assessment and addictions and trauma treatment. Dr. Pecoraro has research and clinical interests in improving addictions treatment; building on client strengths and the integration of spirituality and the arts and humor in psychotherapy; self-care and human formation for seminarians, ministry and chaplaincy students, clergy, and others serving in religious contexts; the psychological aspects of inner or emotional healing work; and inter-faith and inter-cultural relations and collaborations.
Dr. Pecoraro earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology, Widener University, with concentrations in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy, and School Psychology. She completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship, also at Widener University, with rotations in child, adolescent, and adult psychotherapy and assessment at the NorthEast Treatment Center and in addictions at the Treatment Research Institute (TRI), affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania. in Philadelphia, PA. While still in graduate school, she completed the New Haven Psychoanalytic Research Training Program offered by the Anna Freud Centre Program of the Yale University Child Study Center and the Western New England Psychoanalytic Society.
Dr. Pecoraro completed a two-year NIDA T32/NRSA postdoctoral research and clinical fellowship at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, PA. She also is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology in Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Pecoraro is qualified in Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as an Associate Fellow and Supervisor at the Albert Ellis Institute in New York, NY, where Dr. Ellis served as one of her supervisors and mentors while she was a student. Committed to social justice, Dr. Pecoraro volunteers for a variety of causes in an attempt to help make the world a better place. She is also a professional musician who performs regularly. Dr. Pecoraro is a member of the 2019 cohort of the Visionary Women Program of Interfaith Philadelphia.
